UrbanFilmSeries.com and The Urban Film Series

About UrbanFilmSeries.com
UrbanFilmSeries.com is the exclusive home for information about Urban Film Series programs that serve as critical fundraising and programmatic arms of Next Generation Awareness Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation ("NGAF"). Urban Film Series is comprised of several film-related programs that enhance awareness and provide exposure of the arts, independent cinema, media, and the motion picture industry to underserved communities across America that would otherwise not have such opportunities. The programs include festivals, screenings and workshops whose programmatic goals are to:

  • Expose underserved communities to the arts, independent cinema and media;
  • Recognize key issues affecting communities and families;
  • Recognize key individuals and organizations;
  • Connect independent filmmakers to communities and the motion picture industry;
  • Provide awareness; and
  • Educate

Each year, NGAF tours these programs under the “Urban Film Series Tour” concept, beginning with the highly-acclaimed Black History Month Film & Discussion Series.

For over four years, these programs have received outstanding local, regional and national recognition, including over ninety articles in national and regional newspapers, twenty radio and television interviews, and city-issued proclamations. Filmmakers, celebrities, historians, authors, artists, poets and musicians from across the world have participated in Urban Film Series programs, helping fulfill their aim of “Connecting Communities with History and Progressive Cinema.” Only with your help can these wonderful programs continue.
